Aung San Suu Kyi Mark Progress Reform

Myanmar pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi marked the progress of political reform in his country. Progress was an act of the government of Myanmar today.
"Looking back at the year that passed, I guess I could say that there is an important event, which gives energy and at some level encouraging," he said in Rangoon.
In a press conference attended by about 100 journalists, Suu Kyi said his meeting with the Minister of Labour and President Thein Sein as examples of the progress he meant.
However, he added that much more to be done. Among other things, as the AP and AFP on Monday (16/11/2011) further amnesty to political prisoners.
"The issue which has a great importance for all of us who work for democracy in Burma is a political prisoner. Several have been released over the past year, but many still remain in prison," he added.

Reports said the Human Rights Commission established by the government of Myanmar has requested that more prisoners were soon released. Estimated number of prisoners released ahead of the ASEAN summit to be held in Bali, Thursday, November 17.
The Myanmar government has issued a statement that as many as 6359 prisoners would be freed under amnesty. However, it is unclear how many political prisoners will be freed. Meanwhile, there are reports estimate about 1,000 political prisoners in Myanmar.
National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi said in mid-October about 200 political prisoners freed participate. One of them is Zarganar, a comedian who was sentenced to prison for criticizing the government's efforts in dealing with victims of Cyclone Nargis.Was also released Htan Say Say, who was the leader Shan soldiers. He was arrested for refusing to participate in drafting the new constitution of Myanmar.
