6 Months hostage, India Ship Freed

The tanker carrying 21 crew from India were released by Somali pirates on Saturday (01/14/2012), after nearly six months in captivity. Until Sunday, the ship owner is not willing to disclose details of the release of the vessel and the vessel is purpose today.

The Directorate General of Shipping India has just explained that the vessel MT Fairchem Bogey is now sailing toward a safe harbor.

"We can not disclose the port that will be addressed by the ship or the details about the terms of the release of the ship," said a source at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management in Mumbai, which operates chemical tankers.

MT Fairchem Bogey was hijacked on August 20, 2011 by Somali pirates while anchored at kawasam Port of Salalah, Oman. Since then the ship hostage.

Unnamed source added that the crew would be returned to their homes by the end of next week. Today, an Indian naval ship on the way to escort the ship reached port safely.
